Plaza III Hosts Aug. 11th Event to Help Resident with Liver Transplant Jacksonville, FL (August 6, 2007) Jacksonville resident Pamela Comstock needs a liver transplant and the Plaza III Steakhouse is going to do its part to help. From 4:30 p.m. until closing on Saturday, August 11, Plaza III will donate 10 percent of all sales to a transplant fund to benefit Pam – hosting "Dining Out With a Cause" in conjunction with the National Transplant Assistance Fund (ATAF). Pamela suffers from a liver disease called Primary Scelrosing Cholengitis (PSC) and is currently on disability from work. She has to raise $5,000 for a hospital retainer to complete the transplant, and her monthly medical costs after surgery will be at least $1,400 a month. Her insurance will only cover a portion of that monthly cost. "When we heard of Pam’s situation, we just wanted to do something to help," said Plaza III Owner J. Bard McLean. "I hope Pam’s family and friends, and people who just want to help her out, will come down and enjoy a great meal for a good cause." Since Plaza III opened over a year ago, the restaurant has held fundraisers to support the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Shands Neonatal Care Facility, the American Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald House, the J Fund, and the Jacksonville Zoo. For more information about the fundraising event, contact Plaza III Banquet Coordinator Sue Perry at 904-598-0234 or e-mail banquets@plaza3jax.com. For more information about the National Transplant Assistant Fund visit www.transplantfund.org. Locally owned and operated by restaurant entrepreneur J. Bard McLean, Plaza III, The Steakhouse is listed among the area’s top 10 restaurants by thebestrestaurants.com. Plaza III originated in Kansas City, Missouri in 1963 and the Jacksonville location is one of only five in the United States. Plaza III has been recognized as a "Top Ten of America’s Steakhouses" by Zagats, and has received the Wine Spectator "Award of Excellence." Plaza III opens at 11:30 a.m. on weekdays, serving lunch and dinner, and at 4:30 for dinner only on Saturdays and Sundays. The restaurant offers regular seating, and private dining rooms and a patio area that can be reserved for business events and special occasions.
