CRISIS COMMUNICATION

"If it bleeds, it leads."

That phrase, attributed to a local television news outlet, is typical of the approach taken by most TV news, daily newspapers and the "alternative" newspaper in nearly any city. When things go wrong, it makes news.

If you or your company ever face a crisis, you will need to develop your message and respond quickly to inform the public. Your response to a crisis can help you maintain a good reputation and retain the support of your customers and/or the general public.

Ron Whittington & Associates is uniquely qualified to help you through any media crisis.

In his past roles as media spokesperson, principal Ron Whittington has dealt successfully with many a media crisis. Whether speaking on behalf of municipal power company JEA during the hurricanes of 2004, representing Atlanta’s transit agency during the 1996 Olympic Games, or responding to political, legal and operational challenges during construction of a $2.6 billion transit system in Dallas, Whittington has learned about crisis communication through first-hand experience.

In addition, Whittington has created crisis communications plans for several public agencies, companies and non-profit organizations. He has also received disaster communication training through the International Red Cross and has worked on mock disaster exercises with the U.S. Coast Guard and the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games
